in reply to @idadeerz's post:

the actual reason why fahrenheit is oddly littlespacey for me is that i learned the metric system around the same time i became a Legal Adult, and switched everything over to celcius and metres and stuff (resulting in everyone around me being completely unable to get useful information about the weather from me, because i would give them a number they couldn't understand)

and so now i associate fahrenheit with being a kid. its almost nostalgic.

but also its funny because lol wow ur such a dumb little kidbrain like americans are dumb for using one completely arbitrary and nonsensical system of measurement rather than the other completlely arbitrary and nonsensical system of measurements used by a much wider group of people yeah you fucking baby cant even handle CENTIGRADE like an adult, guess we'll have to regress you back to FAHRENHEIT like some kind of fucking kindergartener, only big girls can handle celsius and your big girl card has been REVOKED

miles are littlecoded because they are bigger than kilometers but still notated in the same way on signs so when i saw miles on all the signs along the road in the US my mind instantly thought of one specific distance/ETA but then it'd end up being a lot longer in reality so it just makes you feel very small
