wait did i not post about

BUELFEST

i am running an online music festival for the boy's birthday! that's in November, so there are 6 months to submit sets that:

  • are between 0 and 20 minutes
  • have a sample of bueller in them
  • were fun to make

join the discord if you want to make something :)

(You can also make visuals for someone else's set if you want idk)

@idadeerz

the BUELFEST staff would rather let artists perform who make up false accusations about trans women to try and ruin their careers, than that they would protect and platform the trans women in question. i think that is completely fucked up and i absolutely do not think any community or person that willingly allows that to happen should have any place on cohost.

i've been informed that several artists within the community have already expressed their disagreement with the situation. while none of them are pulling their sets since they don't want their work to go to waste, they aren't planning on ever working with the BUELFEST staff ever again. i think that is honestly understandable considering the staff are dealing with the situation this unprofessionally, and they're going this far to create an unsafe environment for marginalized people by doing this.

i think it's important to understand what kind of people you're supporting if you are performing at this fest or if you are planning on watching it when it gets broadcasted. don't wanna aid transmisogyny? don't give them your support.

my previous post about the situation if you want more context

@idadeerz

and i still have yet to hear anything from guy-with-dog or the rest of the staff. no reinstatement of my name or my appearance on the urlfest, no apology, not even any communication at all. and the urlfest is about to start in just a day.

it's fucking shameful.

@spiders' contribution to the world this month was getting the Boops boops page locked for repeatedly changing the caption on an image from "A specimen in a bucket" to "Boops boops in a bucket"

iliana
@iliana

there is a single wikipedia editor who has reverted the "Boops boops in a bucket" change repeatedly over the past year and a half, including a revert of an admin's edit, and who is the same one who requested the page locking, because apparently this one person can decide to put up a "no fun allowed" sign

if i had the energy i would continue poking the wasp's nest on a more formal dispute resolution page, because i really dislike these kinds of situations where a single wikipedian gets a little too involved in removing a fun cutesy thing, but i just cannot be assed to deal with wikipedian bureaucracy. so instead spiders is just going to get themself and probably most of comcast's seattle IP ranges banned for continuing to change the caption every few months when they remember to check it
