if you get a chance to go see hot and fresh new Seattle band Telehealth you should do it. they work somewhat in the tradition of Devo (located somewhere on the musical spectrum near synthpop and post-punk1), but their music is laser-targeted at queer2 communists3 who are tired of Tech and its acolytes4 and feel crushed in various ways by the present economic5 and political6 Moment7
i saw the last show in their first west coast tour at Tamarack in Oakland last night and it fuckin kicked ass. halfway through the set they borrowed a set of congo drums and another band's drummer to operate them, the results prompting the frontman to announce [paraphrasing] that this rules and they will only be doing songs with congas from this point forward. Also Tamarack has extremely good falafel, check that out too if you're a fan of falafel
