Finally approaching the end of my run buying a bunch of spare Japanese region consoles for my setup with this ceramic white fat PS2 I got off of Mercari. I've always liked this color of PS2, but it's extremely prone to yellowing from the looks of it, so it took a while to find one this pristine, with the yellowing mostly limited to the controller connectors, which I'll take as a compromise. (The memory cards were bought separately on the cheap at a Hobby Off and I'm less fussed about given the price.) Glad to finally have it either way; my silver US one has been a trooper for over 15 years and it's only just now starting to show some minor maintenance issues, mostly slightly flaky controller and memory card ports. I intend to tackle those eventually once I hopefully build up the soldering skills to work on that sort of stuff, but for now, it's going into semi-retirement as this new white one takes over, which itself seems to work like a charm. My all Japanese PS2 game diet continues unabated.π
Definitely puts into perspective what an engineering marvel the PS2 slim remains, though! Genuine shame we've never seen anything get remotely close ever since. Alas. π©
