It's easy to think my generation lost its position as vanguards of Internet culture only with the rise of stuff like Fortnite in recent years, but I'm pretty sure it happened about a decade ago when kids in middle school started going into vocaloid video comments being like, "I can totally see Megurine Luka doing this to Miku when she's trying to renew her driver's license at the DMV" and they get 2000 likes as if it's both incredible relatable and a paradigm-shifting new dimension of vocaloid canon has been unearthed by this one astute observation. And it's only gotten more frequent in the years since.
