as much as the environmentalist in me completely agrees with the japanese approach of just having individual ac units for each main room in a house so you're not wasting energy on climate control for places you aren't in, i'd be lying if i said the american in me doesn't miss having centralized ventilation when stepping out of my air conditioned office and into the muggy, humid death immediately awaiting me in my hallway 😩
