I feel like I'm playing to only get worse and worse, but I have no clue on what I am supposed to learn or how I am supposed to learn.
I can always go look at a chess game with an engine or look at games and check other ideas. I can iterate thru my turns in a TCG or check deck construction. But I can't do that in a fighting game and I can't really practice combos if I'm gonna spend 90% of any give match in defense.
eventually you hit a part of the skill curve where you start doing things intentionally, and having to actively think about what's going on rather than intuiting like you previously were can tank your skill for a bit. there's still plenty of intuition going on though, so the skill you're trying to work on is letting your knowledge and intuition work side by side rather than competing for mental effort.
