I don't need to tell you Celeste is good, and I barely need to tell you how it hit me. In no small part, I'm married today because Celeste exists. I dedicated years of my life to speedrunning Celeste Classic, and played Celeste Classic 2 the moment it dropped. So, I had to go and drop everything to play Celeste 64 when it dropped. And well...
It is what I expected: great!
Sure, the camera is clumsy but honestly how could it be a throwback 3d platformer without awful uncooperative camera.
Madeline's 3D model is outright adorable. I love how she leans into her dash like she's tackling. I love the bounciness and how the team was willing to play with squash and stretch so much, even more considering this was their first foray into 3d animation. Lena had tons of fun with the soundtrack. I love that Maddy Thorson keeps making canon-obsessed people unhappy. I love that Madeline is gay.
I might run this? 100% seems to be where it's at.
