And I gotta ask:

Why do fans (generally non Japanese ones) insist that the official Japanese localization of Undertale is bad?

I've seen this a couple times and I have no idea where it came from

If you happen to know, please inform me

Update: doing a Google search landed me on a Steam page where someone just says this is the case without any context and most people do not agree so I'm not finding anything useful lol

I also found a Kotaku article about the way Sans refers to himself in the Japanese translation and how that stirred up some drama?

UPDATE: I WAS WRONG. This person was talking about Cave Story's official localization, not Undertale's. I was not reading well and uhhh read it as undertale lol

in reply to @ikuyo's post:

Haven't heard about this at all, most of what I've heard about the Japanese translations of Undertale and Deltarune has been reasonably positive. I know there was some amount of negative reaction regarding certain dialogue choices compared to the fan translation among Japanese fans (including the Sans pronoun choice), but that's about it?

It's been brought up repeatedly in the Cave Story modding servers (another game with a significant dispute between a fan translation and an official translation) as if it were self evidently obvious, and so far I can find very little supporting the claim so
