i chose mine because i wanted it to start with exe so that people in mmos would just call me exe and i wanted it to sound vaguely feminine so i played with every collection of syllables i could imagine until something stuck. now this has been my primary username/character name/blog name/whatever on basically everything for like 20 years. lol

we iterated through every morpheme we could think of for the ending, evaluating it on how we liked the sound of it, on how many people were using it per cursor searches of social media (preferring fewer), on whether it was diminutive (preferring not), and then we came up with one that has a hidden meaning that people with the appropriate background sometimes recognize but that typically goes unnoticed although its connotations may have subconscious effect.

so we went with that one, because we're all about that sort of thing.

JUNE: after we started our transition, we were just "fionnaadams" on the socials.
JUNE: then we went with "internetFionna" 8ecause a coworker at a former jo8 was asked 8y a roomm8 if their coworker (us) was "Fionna from the internet"
JUNE: and that wasn't even the first time alphy had 8een referred to as such, so it stuck!!!!!!!!
JUNE: then, as our system grew, we went with "tautologySystem", 8ecause Twitter has a 15-character limit on usernames.
JUNE: when we came to Cohost, originally this 8log was "internetFionna" and we had a separ8 system 8log that we wanted to think of a Pesterchum handle for.
JUNE: we figured "pleonastic"—
ROSE: "The use of more words than are necessary to convey meaning (e.g. see with one's eyes), either as a fault of style or for emphasis," according to the New Oxford American Dictionary.
JUNE: —is a good word to descri8e us 8esides "tautological", so we smacked them together as a chumhandle!!!!!!!!
JUNE: and now, as we've just 8een way more plural on main than we ever could 8e on Twitter, we took the first chance we could to rename our main 8log to "pleonasticTautology".
JUNE: that's, uh, 8asically all of it? anything pre-transition doesn't matter, o8viously.
