As an indie dev, I've been thinking about how to make my own games accessible to all players, knowing I have very little time and resources.

Fleeting Heart Studios, a small studio, just re-engineered the visual novel Katawa Shoujo in Ren'Py 8 and added in accessibility options for players with disabilities such as:

  • self-voicing
  • two dyslexic typefaces
  • a special high contrast text box
  • various optimizations to improve functionality with common screenreaders

Project is open-source so you can take a look yourself. Saving it so the next time I do a Ren'Py project I can dig into it and add my own accessibility options to my games.
