So many of the Steam reviews for Opportunity read like: "The writing is excellent, I really loved the characters, the art is wonderful, however as there are no branching plot lines or multiple endings this is NOT A GAME and therefore this will be a NEGATIVE review"

Well, never let it be said that I don't listen to player feedback, so when the final full 5-chapter version of Opportunity launches (Q1 2023 if all goes well), it will launch with an unlockable New Game+ mode which will be made available after completing a full playthrough. New Game+ features will include:

  • The same exact story as the vanilla game
  • However, at random points throughout the narrative a three-choice menu will appear
  • Choosing the correct option of the three advances the story as normal
  • Choosing an incorrect option kills you instantly and dumps you back to the main menu
  • There will be grinding sections in which you will have to click through the same menu and dialog 25 times (or more!) in order to raise a stat like Perseverance or Dignity high enough for you to advance through the (again, completely unchanged) story
  • Every time you're killed by choosing an incorrect menu option, you will be granted a glimpse of a horrible little man scrambling across the background
  • Glimpses of the horrible little man will be tracked on a Glimpse Counter in the top-left of the screen
  • If the Glimpse Counter exceeds 99, the game will play a brief GLIMPSE OVERLOAD animation before crashing
  • Attempting to run the game after GLIMPSE OVERLOAD has been achieved deletes system32 from your PC

This is good, yes? This is good video games? You feel engaged now, correct?

Literally what is wrong with gamers. "I enjoyed the experience but it did not conform to my expectations of the medium so i am going to take some of my limited time here on earth to make life harder for the creator of this, again, enjoyable experience, and discourage others from participating in it despite the fact that I liked the thing"
