Gundam: Gay Witch - Excellent remake of G Gundam
There is a good show hidden in G Gundam and it's all the bits that they don't throw out for every Super Robot Wars game. And then there's the other half that's Racism Gundam.
Neo-Mexico is a sombrero-shaped colony but also Neo-Holland's Gundam made the finals by pretending to be a windmill for a year, so it's impossible to say if it's good or bad,

I think that a big part of it is at the time I hadn't had exposure to just how genre-busting gundam had been in the past, having only seen 0079 and Wing and 08th Microsoft Teams at the time
Gundam as a franchise is also wildly variable. For every Zeta or 00 that are absolutely phenomenal there's a ZZ or SEED Destiny that just did not need to be made. G is almost unique in managing to be both quite bad and excellent depending on which episode you're watching (and which national fighters are around).
I think the most impressive thing about G-Gundam is, despite how over-the-top and goofy it is, it still has all the core themes of Gundam as a series. It just also has a football surfer boxer cop gundam and a horse gundam piloted by a horse.
But yeah, if you want G Gundam without the absurd racism, the original Build Fighters exists.
It's so goddamn frustrating because the good bits of G are so good. There's just
all the other bits.
