ok so there is a song pack with all of the charts (but not all difficulties) from vivid wave and another upload of not all of the charts (but for all of those charts all difficulties) from the same game vivid wave. what does one do.
i'm going to stop me there and put a read more because honestly. this is too much.
you would i assume, merge both folders and it would just replace any dupes right. that would be sensible. that's a shame that the song folder names (there are like 300) are completely different so merging is not an option. ok smartypants you're so good at merging do it yourself. spend literally one hour getting rid of duplicates from the folder where song titles are romanized weirdly [they rendered 回レ as "kai-re" what the heck is that. did they listen to the song they converted.] or TRANSLATED INTO ENGLISH COMPLETELY OR PARTIALLY for some reason, and then scroll through them all in game to clean up stragglers. that was fine. that was simple enough it just kind of sucked to do.
enter our next problem. song i like playing has One Effect towards the end of the chart that just plays way too loud. usc's effects volume setting does not affect it because it isn't an ogg, it's a flag in the chart file itself that tells the game to produce the effect. which the effects volume setting in usc has zero control over. you set that little jerk to 0% and it does Nothing. ok fine let me dl keyshootmania ok i don't have time to get my controls working in this. but what if i used ksm's editor (same track format as usc) to look at the chart to find the part that's too loud and, idk do something, remove it if necessary. and this doesn't accomplish more than identifying the effect that plays. FX3. and im too lazy to do anything within the editor itself so idk man let me look at the file in a text editor. which thankfully works just fine even if i have 0 clue what the note notation shows in there. it doesn't matter. because you just need to scroll to the bottom where it defines FX3 as a flanger with blessedly a built in volume control. set it to half and see if it works. it does! new ability unlocked: get equipped with Can Tweak Effects Volume in Fan-Converted SDVX Charts.
yay. ok i mean honestly this is the more exciting development bc now whenever i play a chart on that and it has an issue i can simply take matters into my own hands and make it a little better. very good for me (: i like the sound voltex
