what video game am i thinking of where it was released (in probably a “minimum viable product” state) and then reviewed so badly that they just. un‐released it? not that the game was “unreleased” in the sense that it never came out, because it did. but then they delisted it and said “actually nvm the game’s cancelled”. i’m not imagining this right? this did happen? trying to web search this is impossible, i just get any number of things about various video game lost media or cancelled projects.
no i’m not talking about the awful Multiversus, which was released and had battle passes and a $100 USD “founders edition” and just now they announced it’s going offline to prepare for its launch in 2024, claiming that actually this game was in “open beta” this whole time (‽). that’s what prompted me to think of this other story i can’t remember though. god maybe i should do a post about Multiversus sometime for the uninitiated though, it’s such a fascinating disgusting irredeemable trainwreck
