I wouldn't trust Reuben's perception of what qualifies as "a long time," by the way. He's not used to people sticking around for long.
This is Reuben and Afon from Ordinary, a casual, intermittent comic I'm making about two monsters who are friends. You can read the about the comic's premise here.
I'm pretty sure that's the Lady in the Radiator from Eraserhead. The perfect movie to make you start questioning basically everything.
The subtle terror of understanding that Afon can manipulate air at a distance, specifically the air next to you, that you're breathing right now, is incredible.
That last line hanging out in the yawning emptiness of the back of the couch -- brilliant!
I think I know which of them is more dangerous but I'm not sure who is more threatening.
Come to think of it, Afon doesn't have speech bubbles at all, does he!
It's brilliant how this means he's been basically whispering this whole time.
But what does Afon sound like? And also if the eyes are fake, why not add a fake mouth?
Too much trouble, I suppose? tongue, teeth, lips, etc.
And what Afon sounds like... will be covered.
OH, ALSO: He doesn't actually see out of those eyes, they're there so people have something to focus on when they talk to him!
