Objectively, I think it's better that we live longer so we can be there for them for their whole lives, but man does it hurt. I hope that some day, the pain will mellow and the good memories will stay bright.
I found a video I took of him making his noises after finding an old toothbrush and I know it will be better because there was so much happiness he brought into my life, but it's so hard right now. 100% better to be able to help them go gently, though. I think about how it could have been for him if I hadn't been home that last night when he went downhill so bad. I'd rather be sad than have him suffer.
