So I’ve been reading MM suspense novels this week (for my reading group, we’re doing suspense and I’m just not into JD Robb or the like and romantic suspense novels just don’t come in lesbian for some reason??) and someone tell me WHY every single gay contemporary crime romance series starts with the more masculine1 one with a substance abuse problem and the other MC in a moderately abusive relationship

Like at this point I’ve seen this pairing in five out of five series I’ve started, spanning from 2016 to 2022. Is this a Sherlock thing? God damn it this is a Sherlock thing, isn’t it

  1. in this case meaning any four of: notably taller, dedicated top, dark-haired, straight passing/closeted, older, named Doyle (I’m fully not kidding about this one), wealthier

I have just finished it (after being constantly distracted lol)

I love them. the softest moment two metal bros could ever share right at the end before the epilogue, with Orikan curled up and shaking in the corner and Trazyn checking him over. they love each other so much. no one could hate something that strongly for sixty five million years without loving it.
