Ara had what you might call an isolated childhood, so social interaction (and by extension romance) doesn't come naturally for her.

Also there's the whole autism thing. That doesn't help either.

Val: a dangerous pastime…
A: is what we have here, like… romantic?
V: …huh?
A: that is, erm…
A: (nervous) I mean, if you wanted it to-
V: Ara...
V: (mildly concerned) you kissed me yesterday. On the mouth. With palp.
A: …
A: (vacant) and…?
V: and you're adorable.
A: (hopeful) so not a no?
V: definitely not a no.
