Wait now I have questions. How is the curve so smooth are people really that normally distributed? What population was this study done on? Is this measured, like, pressed into the base? Did they also measure girth in this study?
Thank u beth for the link to the paper and omg.
Exclusion criteria: samples with a congenital or acquired penile abnormality, previous surgery, complaint of small penis size or erectile dysfunction.
They specifically excluded people who complained about having a small dick lmao
Anyway here's the sample sizes, which are all different numbers because this is a review combining data from multiple studies. I'm loving the phrase "flaccid pendulous"
| Measurement | Sample size |
|---|---|
| Flaccid pendulous | 10704 |
| Flaccid stretched | 14160 |
| Erect | 692 |
| Flaccid circumference | 9407 |
| Erect circumference | 381 |
There had to be an agreement about how the measurement was done:
Flaccid or erect length was measured from the root (pubo-penile junction) of the penis to the tip of the glans (meatus) on the dorsal surface, where the pre-pubic fat pad was pushed to the bone.
I'd also like to reproduce here the list of articles excluded and their reasons.
Penis size not measured, n = 27 Erectile dysfunction, n = 14 Self-measurement, n = 12 Complaint small penis size, n = 9 Penile abnormality, n = 5 Aged <17 years, n = 2 Cadavers, n = 1
Cadavers??? What paper on cadaver penises did they find???
