Re: Phones should be built like the Lumia 1020 - I posted about this before but I love it so I have to say it again

To remove/replace the display assembly you have to open the sim door and loosen one captive screw, and pry on one corner a little to pop it out.
There's no glue.

The whole phone looks and feels completely seamless, but still comes apart easily because it's all held shut with clips on the display assembly which lock into a sliding rail which is moved by that one captive screw hidden inside the sim card slot.

The tradeoff is that it's a little thick, which isn't trendy, but it's such a nice shape to hold that I can't imagine anyone picking one up and thinking of that as a negative. Idk. Incredible design

Yeah true and I don’t think there’s any good way to compromise to achieve those two goals (waterproof, no glue easy disassembly). But also the only waterproof phone I’ve ever owned died the first time I accidentally went swimming with it because the sim slot just randomly opened, so. Eh

Realistically, if you are a bit careful, the only IP rating a phone really needs is x3 or x4 at most, you are not supposed to immerse it in water. And that I think should be achievable with gaskets without needing to glue everything together.
