lately I've been hunting down sort of homemade kimchi, the kind that doesn't come in jars with manufacturered labels (like I used to get from Chinatown grocery stores). here's three grocery stores in Centre City that I've found who sell kimchi, from left to right:
- Sue's Produce Market, on 18th between Chestnut and Sansom, across from the Van Leeuwen. very spicy kimchi with very intense flavour. will definitely buy again
- Maxx's Produce, on 20th between Locust and Spruce, a block west from the southwest corner of Rittenhouse Square. this one has the most fermented flavour out of the three, I think I'd keep this one and the above stocked in my fridge
- VIP Market, on Walnut between Broad and 13th, near Grandma's Philly1. the least notable of the three. would not bother with next time
