I wouldn't suggest it because film prices are stupid right now, but if you wanna jump in, give a cursory glance to some of canons later ef based film cameras. There was some REALLY cool advancements made, Canons eye autofocus that tracked your eyeball in the eye piece to judge where you wanted focus comes to mind. Personally I run a eos 3. Automatic, with lots of neat features and incredible room to grow.
If I get a camera, I'll look into those too!
I know it's not the cheapest hobby to get into, but that's why it's an unreasonable desire to get a film camera, not a "well thought out and intentioned desire"
