i occasionally think about kagi, the pay-to-use search engine. it seems neat, but like. is it worth money to me? i probably do an above average number of searches (because i'm dumb and 'search' for things i know the answer to) so i think i'd need one of those higher tiers1 it starts to get unjustifiably expensive.

i think i've decided that if i get a job where i'm searching for stuff on the web for work2, i'll get it, and even try writing it off on tax, or getting work to pay for it?3 but for personal use, as much as i'd like to de-google4, it's not worth the money right now

  1. and that's usd, and i'm not usa

  2. i search the web at work but not for work

  3. bold move as a rookie

  4. i know of - and don't like - duckduckgo and startpage
