Let's also not forget that while all this energy is going into harassing queers on the internet, real actual pedophiles are out there hurting real actual children. There's so much attention paid to this stuff that could have gone toward targeting actual predators... but of course that was never going to happen, was it? Because the people complaining about queers on the internet only care about queers on the internet and don't give a fuck about children in the real world who are suffering.

Agreed. "Pro-ship" and all that is vague and has led to the current muddied waters. It's convenient for the twitter-level of pettiness to use a wider definition when looking for a weapon.

From a political level, if I'm being 100% blunt here I'm guilty of doing it against groyper/right wing types that had some dumb anime pfp. In doing so I've made it a looser definition where white, cisgender men can be edgy about loli shit and not really suffer consequences. Heaven fucking help you if you're caught with that and openly queer.

Man, just, as someone who grew up in a family with an ACTUAL FBI-definition-of-habitual-pedophile, watching people go completely apeshit over their IMAGINING of a pedophile is bananas. It's like, my good bitch, you are like that medieval artist trying desperately to draw a rhino, the likes of which you have never seen. (And that's kinda the glamour of it all, right? They've never actually MET this classic dyed-in-the-wool pedophile, so they imagine some kinda dark lord. They don't realize he was just a normal guy the vast majority of the time, bowling, bringing donuts to the workers at his bank, preferring lottery tickets to any kind of Christmas present.)

And of course, there's always proof in the pudding--he was the paragon of normal, while I got out and ain't never hurt anyone, I'm just a giant freak. Are they going to do real shit to HELP me, or do they just like using the IDEA of me for a glamorous holy war? Is my suffering just a fun club to beat others with? To beat ME with when they decide I'm not the cute little victim their war demands? Who do they truly care about: punishing the transgressor, or helping the survivors left behind?

I recently lost housing due to a roomy (trans, kinky and leftist btw) deciding I'm a child molester! That sure isn't a thing with REAL LIFE CONSEQUENCES TO MY LIFE THAT COST ME SHITLOADS OF MONEY AND MY HOUSING! And what could I say to potential future roomies about why I needed housing so fast, right? "Well, my roomy decided I'm a pedophile. Even though I'm not, I promise!" There's no way it DOESN'T SOUND BAD!
