I was really hoping that I could do some real cooking today for just myself to have something delicious for Christmas since I'm home alone for the most part. Decided to try my hand at butter milk biscuits and sausage gravy.
Well the gravy came out perfect because it's really hard to fuck up sausage gravy (although I've seen it fucked up before). The biscuits on the other webbie were...a complete and utter failure. Followed the recipe down to a T and still they failed.
Pretty disheartening when I really tried to pull it off. Even if it was just for me to eat I was to expand my ability to cook and make things so I'm not so reliant on pre-made frozen foods. Not that there's anything wrong with the ol' quick frozen meal but sometime you just want something...more I guess.
Anyway the biscuits outer shell was fine. Plenty crunch but it's the inside that was the failure. Doughy and undercooked. Like something just didn't go right. If I had tried to bake them long the outside would have been burnt and I can't have that. Still scrapped most of the biscuits.
I tried to save what I could and used that for my meal. The gravy helped them along somewhat but just wasn't right. Not even my table tabasco could save it and tabasco saves most things for me.
Guess it just wasn't my day in the kitchen. Anyway, there's laundry to be done and cookies to deliver.
