it-is-erin

competitive umineko enjoyer

I'm erin! I'm a UK-based solo Visual Novel developer and big fan of UC Gundam, LoGH, and 07th Expansion.

posting about fighting games, vn writing/dev, and anything else that strikes my fancy!

If you don't know me from elsewhere:

I'm erin. i play fighting games. i like umineko. you should read umineko.

If you already know me:

I'm gonna try for a different vibe on this site. I've never done any blogging before (I was never on tumblr!) so the prospect is actually very novel for me. I'll be posting about:

VN Dev Stuff

I'm writing an Umineko fan project called Letter to the Golden Witch. It's about 80% done, and development has slowed down a lot in the last 10 months, but I want to talk about it more outside my small circle of unofficial proofreaders/feedback-givers/previewees/shoulders-to-cry-on - being able to share progress more widely is motivating, but it's hard to fit interesting dev/writing talk into a tweet! Writing and developing Letter has been a challenging experience in ways that were (and continue to be) really surprising to me, so I'd like to share what I can on that front.

I also have a few potential followup projects lined up, so - regardless of what I choose to focus on - once Letter is done I'll be diving right into a wholly different type of writing and development project.

Fighting Games

I think a lot about fighting games! Between my FGC social group and the improvement-focused parts of the big LGBT FGC discord server I help to moderate, I have a decent amount of experience with discussing everything from broad mentality to the minutiae of single interactions in a way that helps others to improve both their button-pressing skills and their relationship with the genre overall.

It's not like I think I have insight that nobody else does, but I do think my particular approach and methodology is worth sharing regardless, and this seems like a good place for that!

Other Stuff

I am very passionate about the things I like. I also constantly find new things to like. I will write about those, probably.

i am Super Bad about tag etiquette because i'll just throw any old shit into the tags like a form of parentheses, but i think a lot of people use #gamedev for stuff, and you may get some ideas about other tags to use from there. also #fighting games or #guilty gear or w/e

also speaking of tags, if you search for tags you can bookmark the tag and then there's a button that collects all of the tags to click thru. yesterday staff said that they're working on a page to collect all of your tagged posts into one feed

also also the tag field will automatically append a # so you don't need to write one in yourself. (that's what i'm guessing happened with the "##" in your tag)
