
jPSXdec is the best thing I've found, though it needs Java. https://github.com/m35/jpsxdec
if nothing else works and you know of a Linux utility there's always WSL
at the file level, literally impossible
jpsxdec does a lot of heavy lifting if you wanna do the conversion song and dance
then there's that one program that i can't recall the name of but it can extract the raw xa data out
long story short: use jpsxdec
very interesting situation occurring here at this point.
jPSXdec has indeed let me peer into the disc image but it's only showing images and silent video, and barely showing even a hint of actual game data.
now this isn't the first time i've peered into a ps1 disc so i know it usually isn't like this... but that's all i really know, beyond that i'm mystified
edit: if it's bespoke compression then i'm boned
