Pretty fun so far going with my teams from EoS and GTI. But I never realised just how much they nerfed Shinx in this game.
Like, when I initially planned to play this the thought ran through my head to mod my protagonist to be Shinx before I settled on making all of my characters different and WOW am i so glad I didn't.
So Orion's moveset in Explorers of Sky was like this:
- Roar
- Electro Ball
- Thunder Fang
- Quick Attack
As far as I can tell, Shinx in PSMD can't learn Quick Attack. It might still be able to learn Electro Ball but that might just be a TM move I haven't found yet though. Unfortunately, those seem to be the only two ranged moves for Shinx that I know of.
So when playing as Shinx, I don't really have any non-item option's for ranged attack.
I replaced Quick Attack with Charge Beam, which can cut corners. Not really a ranged move but still kinda nice.
Though on the note of Quick Attack, removing it's corner cutting ability wouldve nerfed Shinx even if they could learn it, so theres that.
At least Totodile and Absol have ranged attacks, which carry the team about as much as it did in EoS.
My GTI team of Snivy and Oshawott doesnt have that issue though, which is nice.
Would recommend people who are playing through the postgame to try out your old teams on missions with the respective game's characters though ^^
on a similar note, i should probably replace Roar in PSMD with something else as I only really used that as an "i dont want to deal with that right now" move which has been more or less replaced with wands
