I dont tend to get into new media that often, but I recently discovered a comic called "The Long Hike" by ThePatchedHobo on FA.
The basic premise is that sometime in the early 2020's the Americas gets merged with another dimension (i think) and humans sorta disappear from it, and it's pretty much inacessible from the outside so no one knows what really happened.. Roughly about a hundred years later a portion of the ex-population suddenly re-awaken, transformed into dragon-like critters by the environment in a long-abandoned Americas.
The Long Hike and the other handful of comics the artist made basically follow the events of what happened afterwards, with the main one focusing on one of the first humans ever to be able to re-venture back into the continent during a re-colonization scouting job about 20 years later.
Accidentally transformed into a drek themselves, it shows how they deal with it and showing how human culture in general adapted to being suddenly overturned like that.
Its a really fascinating read that also happens to tick a few TF switches in me as well as just being about dragons which is nice. The person behind it also knows a lot about anthropology which helps it's immersion.
