I've been on a big physical media-collecting kick lately. I've always made a point to get CDs for musicians I like and want to support, since I rely on my car's radio to drive more attentively, but didn't play them much at home. Cassettes were also out of the question for both the car and home, but I still picked up cheap tapes for bands I like when I found them.
Anyway - I ended up getting this guy for my work room/study. It's a Panasonic RX-D55; is it top-of-the-line in terms of sound quality and such? Nah. Could I have saved money and gotten something objectively better by scouring thrift stores for something older to fix up myself? Absolutely. But this guy is just so charming (that orange LCD!), and offered everything most everything I was looking for, including a remote. So, I'm very pleased. In the future I definitely want to learn more about maintaining the equipment I have, so this probably won't be the last boombox I procure.
