if you often gaze into the swirling vortex of trans hatred that is the british media then sometimes it's nice to remember that most people dont actually hate you

just look at this and tell me it's not a perfect echo of the infamous scene in goncharov where goncharov and joseph have their homoerotic standoff, framed in front of and above a vast motorway. the way the cars speed both away from and towards the camera, like a river, mirroring the inescapable march of time that runs through the film. the out of focus guardrail showing how thin the line is between the relative safety of the bridge and the chaos of the motorway. and in the background the three towerblocks, again continuing the motif of trios(i.e. the joseph, katya, and goncharov love triange, the three candles in That Scene) that runs throughout the film. it's hard to look at this and not picture the famous exchange where both men argue about who should "have" katya, yet in a way that hints at who they really want, whilst showing the violence and unhappiness inherent to masculinity.
so yeah. sorry for goncharov posting on main, but i couldn't resist, sometimes life imitates art so well it has to make itself known.
