Well hear me out, obviously the only problem with the Titan sub was the pressure under the ocean right? So if we just build exactly the same thing again and send it into space instead...
They're venting the capsule over 45 hours and have about 6 days of life support total on the ship. The spacesuits have no PLSS at all and are purely reliant on an umbilical system. they're opening the capsule whilst within the Van Allen belt. The entire mission has been planned in about 3 years. I'm a main supporter of "fuck it we ball" but you don't ball with space missions!
God, between the Starliner delays on the ISS and this...I have a lot I could say about profit-driven companies paving the way for space exploration and what that entails for safety standards etc, but I won't get on my soapbox just yet.
