πŸ”ž I say lots of heck words and post questionable smut. Stick around if that's your thing, but if you're below legal age to view such things in your jurisdiction, kindly go someplace else.
🚜 Bob Semple was right.

@starkat1138 asked:

What is one direction you'd take a series you love if you could?

Discovery wouldn't have gone to the 31st or whatever century.

This is a long, blithering exploration of what I think Star Trek could do with the pre-TOS (or pre-OS if you're in a hurry) era, but to boil it all down... Star Trek seriously needs to be less fucking prissy about continuity, especially when shows like Strange New Worlds are just going to go "lol the eugenics wars happened because-" and... yeah, I could yell for a while about that. SNW's writers just... hadn't seen First Contact, I guess?

okay i'm gonna just breathe

But for real. Give me Discovery. Give me pre-TOS.

Yep. As much as I like watching the show, Discovery is also a massive disappointment by how utterly spineless they get about everything. They came out of the gate with "oh, this is going to be heavy-handed Gulliver's Travels weirdness," and the moment they got any pushback, they shifted to a capital-P prequel, teed up a banal spinoff ("what if the original series was written and filmed like TNG?"), and aggressively excised from the timeline with all the same condescension that the 2009 movie carefully used to explain that we shouldn't worry our pretty little heads since the old timeline is still around...
