Black Library is hauling so much goodwill for GW with these novels as 'inclusion' where the miniature lines are lagging behind by years. It's not as if they can't shit out a sprue with a week's lead time these days, but how is it you're supposed to take them seriously in this day and age when they'll put this cover under your nose, smile like they shat in your glovebox, then you find out the Catachan miniatures are A.) twenty four years old, and B.) godawful shit.

actually fun reasoning for them pushing "astra militarum" and other things! its because very basic phrases like "space marine," and "imperial guard" are generic enough they aren't copyrightable, so anything they make with that name could, in the right legal argument, sort of just be 'snatched'.

So to protect their stuff and all that crap they started going, "ok look we can CALL them that, but we DO need to give them cool specific names and stuff" thus adeptus astartes, astra militarum, etc etc being pushed more, in this day n age.

i would really, really love it if they just caved and gave us more variation and the variation they gave us was also more spread across gender. i wish for it so bad.

i do also wish they'd be willing to give us more metahuman diversity, but that's never happening-
