This occurred to me a few years back, but it's true. Each show has its own theme music, with the exception of TNG. TNG's theme is 'The Enterprise' from Star Trek: The Motion Picture, with a creamy Boston Pops sauce.

Dunno why this came back to mind, but I figure it's the kind of navel-gazing realization that deserves a place here.

Other than the shift from the original series to the films, I think that it's also the first show (I'd say only, but Enterprise joined it later) that said "pfft, we don't need a logo that fits with anything else."

it was incredibly jarring watching TMP for the first time and every few minutes being belted with the TNG theme out of nowhere. Though I'd argue it's the kind of song that might be that jarring without the association, as if a star wars movie hit you with the main star wars theme for every action scene like a gamedev that just discovered CD Audio
