Edit: I am not speaking literally about the original slapchop kitchen device, but a painting technique which was given the name 'slapchop' by someone whose stated aim was to test how easily it would go viral and take root.

it's catchy, it's descriptive, it's just stupid enough to get stuck in the minds of everyone who's seen it. My childhood home had one long before the infomercials and yet I still remember it to this day for exactly what it was:
You slap it, it chops things. Slap, chop! Slap Chop! SlapperChopperSlappyChappySLAPCHOP.
