there are a lot of isekai stories where magic is like computer programming but are there any that depict a workflow for magic that is anything like what actual programmers do?
I never developed my programming career on account of being disabled so I didnt do actual professional programming but my suprising proposal is:
dungeons and dragons.
You upload magical functions into their brain, and before Magic 5.0 it was a one-execution thing where you had to write the same function the same time for each instance of its use instead of just keeping it in memory.
They're constantly making their own version of the same 100 spells and when they want to learn a new spell they have to learn the other persons style then translate it into their own, or if it's like, the person who taught them the magic shit so they DO speak the same language: Figure out how something was built by experimenting and trying until they understand it and effectively could write their own
me: it's so incredibly silly all those wizards in dnd reinvent the same fucking spells or needing to adapt them for hours or days to get someone elses spells to work--
me: remembers programmers
me: I was wrong and I'm not too cowardly to admit that.
