hi cohost!
how was your week? what was your favorite song you listened to this week?
the semester is winding down over here and we're in the final phases of turning things in, getting grades in order, having students who i haven't seen in months show up wondering if there's extra credit, et cetera. i'm super stoked about the summer and the mini development studio we're going to be running over here, but gotta get spring semester done and dusted.
i've been on a bit of a podcast kick this week, so i've been listening to less music than usual, but i really liked these tracks:
the orb's prism has some fun sampling stuff, though i don't know that it's anything earth-shattering. this track by the mops is... i don't know, it's not their best song, even on that album, but it has such a playful vibe that i was smiling a lot while listening to it. and i think that's nice.
also shouts out to the gnarly hüsker dü live album that i fell asleep to on the train ride on wednesday morning. (me falling asleep is more indicative of me being very tired than the album being very boring; it had a lot of fun energy)
my week was pretty good :) hung out with my gf and my friends a bunch and made some music and played a lot of minecraft... also listened to the new busdriver album which had this song on it! how was your week?
aside from the stuff above... i am... mildly sick? i don't like that.
my week was nice. i traveled to visit my parents over the weekend for my dad’s birthday, and i’ve been doing some solo projects at work so i’ve had an atypically large amount of music listening time. i think my favorite song for the week has been Window by Fiona Apple
Looking forward to hearing this on Wed.

not much to report this week unfortunately! ive been watching a show and its been taking up a big chunk of my time, so i havent explored much new tunes :( but! that means i instead get to share an old fave :)
the album ive kept on repeat the past week or two is "Yanqui U.X.O." by second wave post-rock legends Godspeed You! Black Emperor. ive discovered a new enjoyment of the album to the point of rising to my top three GY!BE works! id say its among their more accessible works, and choose the track "Rockets fall on Rocket Falls" to submit to this weeks music friday

fantastic week compared to some recent stinky ones i've had. Squash by Don Muro helped https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hmX8AEqwSM
ahaha, i'm so glad this is making a reappearance for music friday, being forced to stop at the squash gate earlier in the week was a moment of brightness
my week has been stressful to say the least - just like you said, semester is winding down, which means lots of finals lol
about 2 weeks ago, a musician who was a member of a rap collective i liked ended up dying, and since then i've been listening to more of her music as i get more into it and discover more and more of it - she went under many names and is pretty unpopular so sometimes i'll just find more of her out of nowhere on some tiny youtube channel. this song has been my favorite of hers so far.
I hate that I'm extremely into this album:

It's so corny! And cheesy! And I love it. It sounds like an over-produced 80s Saturday Morning Cartoon OST (outside the swearing) that had extensive studio meddling. What if Tenacious D but less funny.
Whatever. I'm into it this week.
Oh, someone else sent this one last week! The video for the title track is charming, I think: https://youtu.be/2n_Ae9DGC0U
