I recently picked up a glass pen and am trying to get used to it for inking work. How do you feel about yours? Do you find it convenient to use, and do you prefer it to other dip pens?
Lovely work, I adore the wispy, dreamlike quality of your traditional art!
I actually prefer the glass pen to other dip pens. However, that might just be because I'm not very good with pen nibs yet. The glass pen gives a nice consistent line, but it doesn't give too much line variety. The glass pen can also hold way more ink than most pen nibs.
But basically, it depends on whether you're going for the uniform line look, or if you want strong dynamic line weight. With the glass pen your only option for line width control is varying your stroke speed, but even then the difference isn't that big.
That glass pen is gorgeous, on my lord! I always love your coloring as well :>
Also curious to hear how you're finding the glass pen! I got one and it feels more like it's a pretty-looking item rather than an inking tool I like using...
the tips vary a LOT, because of the way they're made. You gotta get some sandpaper and mold it to your liking. I quite like them, though.
If the tip chips for whatever reason (pressing too hard, banged it against something etc) you can usually just sand it again and it'll be just fine. The way you sand it does affect the width of the tip, and it's a whole art in itself so results may vary, but yeah!!
