mk.arks.cafe/@janejanathe school district i work at implemented remote learning after two years of not using it (this is different from many other districts in the state, which maintained remote learning plans).
anyway, one of the problems with remote learning is that the staff may lose internet access, making it impossible for anyone in the class to check in and avoid being marked as absent. the district's answer to this is that one high school will be open today and teachers who lose internet access can go there to take attendance 🙃
the blizzard might not end until tomorrow morning and the heavy snow is mixed with freezing rain and high winds, but yeah, if that causes you to lose power just get in your car and drive to the school to make sure kid's parents can see your face for 30 seconds on Google Meet between the hours of 8AM to 2PM.
