I would first ask where you live! Note that all region free players are modified by the sellers, no manufacturer really produces region free players because Sony would never let them do that, so sellers will buy unmodified units, and then solder in the mod chips and sell at a profit. So you want to buy from a reputable seller with a proven track record and known to have good customer service if anything goes wrong with your unit.

If you live in the US of A I'd highly recommend any unit from 220-electronics. I own a Sony UBP-X800M2, not modified but it's a very good 4K player so if you can afford it I'd recommend their modified version of it (thought it is very pricey). I would stay away from the x700 as even the oem version has known issues with 4K discs.

If you're not interested in 4K pretty much any of the standard Blu-ray options will suffice. The cheapest model there is an LG that's very popular.
