everyone already knows i'm a dog

the swift programming language is my fault to some degree. mostly here to see dogs, shitpost, fix old computers, and/or talk about math and weird computer programming things. for effortposts check the #longpost pinned tag. asks are open.

I've been slowly making progress replacing the electrolytic caps on all of the boards inside the FM TOWNS SN. I've still got a long way to go, but I did finally fix one apparent problem with the machine: just replacing the four electrolytic capacitors on the LCD driver board was enough to fix the vertical hold problem and get a stable image on the internal screen. For replacements, I used tantalum electrolytic caps (T495X336K035ATE100) for the three 33uF caps, and an MLCC cap (C2220C106K5RAC) to replace the one 10uF capacitor. Unfortunately the screen still isn't very high-contrast even after the fix; there's a blotch that looks like it might be vinegar syndrome in the polarizer glue, though at least it hasn't yet progressed as far as some other folks' machines I've seen.
