i was scrolling through refuge.tokyo when i found this cool ass title, 風へ 翼よ、愛あるところへ, and i was like "hmm, i wonder what kind of pc-98 game is this". when i clicked on it, it had like birds everywhere.
it's a pigeon racing simulator lmao.
what's wild about this game is that the demonstration featured the name of a supervisor in a bird racing federation. i'm kinda confused. i had no idea pigeon racing was a fucking thing.
i didn't get far into the game, but what i found was a seemingly competent strategy game. but there are some weird mechanics: first, you gotta buy a boy bird and a girl bird. then, you go to the next phase where you let them have their sexy time. the next phase lets you train their children, which are your future racebirds. then, you can make the birds participate in the race and watch them race to the finish line.
except your birds are likely to retire midway because you have no idea how to train the birds lmao. it's really weird lol.
but the game itself is honestly fascinating. PIGEON RACING. that's one niche as hell idea. i assume it's inspired by popular horse racing games of the era and those have made an impact on japanese pc strategy games too. i should play more pc-98 strategy games instead of trying out random adventure games.
