If you work for the big fruit company, you probably have some AAPL stock, which gives you the right to vote on shareholder proposals. Last year we were able to vote in proposals mandating a civil rights audit and disclosure of the company's use of concealment clauses to suppress employees who have been targets of harassment and discrimination from going public. There are some more important shareholder proposals coming up on this year's ballot. Here's my read on a few of them:

Civil Rights and Non-Discrimination Audit Proposal

proposal text and supporting statement

Looks like a reactionary attempt to counter last year's proposal, pushed by the right-wing think tank National Center for Public Policy Research. The supporting statement is a bunch of "gotta hear both sides", "white people feel discriminated against" nonsense. I'd vote Against.

Communist China Audit

proposal text and supporting statement

I'm no fan of the CCP but this smells like more reactionary nationalist nonsense to me. As the board recommendation Against notes, Apple is already under a lot of scrutiny for its dependence on Chinese labor, and to me it's unlikely that sabre-rattling is going to get any more transparency out of the company than they've already been arm-twisted into. I'd vote Against.

Racial and Gender Pay Gaps

proposal text and supporting statement

This looks like a retry of the proposal that failed to get approval last year, asking the company to report on pay equity using the standard unadjusted median pay gaps, instead of the "adjusted" medians it uses today. I'd vote For.
