I work on...assorted things, and look forward to seeing what Cohost becomes.

The Bad
Despite the apparent lack of mandatory activity in their schedules, people still look forward to slack time. They also object to even referencing their work, while trying to relax.

are you a supervisor at amazon

Ha, no, I just find it suspect that they make a big deal about being the best of the best (they've started referring to the Enterprise as the flagship, and minor characters get talkings-to about their work ethic), while walking off the job to day-drink, engage in side projects in high-traffic areas, and still complain that they need time off.

Either they're really overworked and we just don't see the stress, or the elites are dilettantes who think that their chosen careers are beneath them while they demand precision from their reports. Either way, it's not a good look for the Federation...

Yeah I never really understood that "Flagship" business since

a. generally a flagship would have an armada
b. to the best of my knowledge nobody in say the US Navy seriously thinks they're better because they're assigned to this aircraft carrier instead of that aircraft carrier

Yeah, I always assumed that they mean "flagship" in the goofy-in-context sense of a "flagship store" in a chain. Officers wish that someone would assign them to the Enterprise, because it gets all the fancy new toys and projects, and they get more attention from "management."

To your point, though, sort of hilariously, whenever Starfleet forms anything approaching an armada (the Borg, the Dominion, probably others), the Enterprise is off somewhere else or taking its sweet time getting to the action.
