two pieces of firewood kindling a delight. uncomplicated. risk of splinters but great range of sound,
paintbrush/pencil in glass jar light. pleasant. danger of too-sharp ringing sound. can rattle the paintbrush around very easily
two wooden spoons make a beautiful and sinister snapping sound. sound made changes inconsistently based on shape of spoon and way they're played. hard to get the exact same sound twice but i keep trying
sleigh bells love 'em. they can make things sound too much like the holidays so you have to be careful. they can also get too high in the mix/too sharp
tambourine i have broken two tambourines because a pin fell out of the side and the metal plates fell out. i like that you can play them like a weird snare. they're fun to shake. if you set them down on a carpet you get a very weird(good) dead sound. tambourines love to overpower the mix, though, and that's very irritating
handclaps tiring, painful, inconsistent sound based on mic/hand position
shaker do not talk to me about the shaker
