So! Moonglow Bay was a game we really wanted to like (a slice-of-life fishing RPG sounded right up our alley), but there was something missing. The core loop wasn't that exciting for us, and aside from the creative fish-ventions the developers came up with, it felt like it needed just a little more flavor before it was something special.
Dredge, which launched earlier this Thursday, might have that flavor we were looking for. Imagine heading out on the dreary seas, ready for another day of fishing, only...that one fish, sitting amongst the rest of your catches, is a little peculiar. And that other fish looks positively haunted. And whoops, you've stayed out a little too late fishing, rocks are seemingly made out of thin air five feet in front of your vessel, your home base is soooo far away, and oh god what's that red tornado-
Like Dying Light before it, Dredge is a game that makes us properly fear nightfall. And we're not that far in, but right now? We absolutely love it.
