the oscars are a meaningful measure of success for the type of films that may be greenlit in the future, so an outsider minority-led weird movie sweeping the major categories is good news for other weird movies and other movies led by minorities, because productions can be given the go-ahead based on the success of other comparable titles.
but also the oscars are a meaningless measure of objective quality, and a movie winning four awards does not mean that it's twice as good as a movie that won two awards, or that a movie that won zero awards is a bad movie.
