I love showing this game to people and watching their minds get blown that something this ambitious was released as early as January 1998!

The dragon morphing screen in particular was such a big “what?!” moment, it was so fun to watch >w<

We played a bunch of Saturn games with friends on Saturday like Bulk Slash and Burning Rangers, it’s shocking just how well the system could match the PlayStation’s graphical best from the same year like Metal Gear Solid and Spyro. And this was supposed to be the console that was trounced by the PS1 in 3D?

the saturn's quadrilateral 3D rendering lent it visuals that, when properly pushed, didn't look like anything else at the time. my favourite go-to is shenmue's prototype. i saw the footage and went "oh yeah, shenmue for dreamcast, looks good" and then the saturn logo appeared and i was like WWWWHHHHH
